The Archos 500879 Docking Adapter Kit is designed to be used with your Archos 404, 504, or 604 series portable digital media players. The Archos docking adapter perfectly complements your Archos portable media player, allowing it to charge more quickly than when it is simply connected to your computer via a USB cable. This unit also allows your Archos media player to transfer files to and from your computer, as well as allowing you to transfer photos directly from a digital camera via USB host. This adapter features built-in connections for a USB device (miniB connector), a USB host (A connector), and a DC input, and runs on 5.2 volts and 2 amps via an Archos power supply. The Archos docking adapter weighs only 0.8 ounces, and measures 3.3 x 1.1 x 0.6 inches (W x H x D). The Archos docking adapter kit includes the docking adapter, a power adapter with multiple plugs for Europe, the US, and the UK, and a USB cable for connecting to a computer.

Its small, portable, and allows you to easily connect your digital camera to the Archos 404, and charge it directly from the wall.

This is NOT a DVR.......2007-09-24

When I bought this it was called a DVR option... when I recieved it I found out the hard way. While it does work and its great when I travel... just sad that it can't do DVR

We just bought a 504 and decided to splurge on the accessories. In hind site the only things we needed were the original unit, which comes with a perfectly acceptable USB charger, and the DOC since we wanted to hook it up to our HDTV and the DOC has both a remote and component/5.1 out. Turns out we could have scrimped a bit more and just stuck with the original charger, but we also got the docking adapter which really only adds another power supply to lug around (you can easily charge the 504 from any computer). Same goes for the CODECS, but that is another story.

It works but sits on the shelf as an orphan now, when we travel we only take the original USB cable, the AV output cable, and the travel case

This item fits perfectly into my workplace without taking up any space. Since my Archos 404 drains quickly from continuous music and video playback, video is played during lunch breaks btw, this adapter is a convenient resource for keeping me tuned in with my favorite songs. As an added bonus, the adapter has a USB port which works great with my smaller mp3 player that can only be charged through a USB device. I highly recommend this device to any avid user of Archos players. Online is the best chance to find anything here in my area so the choice was obvious to buy through Amazon.

Works as advertised.......2007-08-21

This is a very useful kit. I bought it because I wanted charge my 504 on a regular wall socket. It's also nice to have a back up USB connection in case you lose the cable that came with the 504.

The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is that when I see the work "dock," I think of a stand. This adapter kit is not a stand. It would be nice to have a solid stand to dock the 504 on my desk.
