One of two best Zune 30 cases, it seems.......2007-12-08
From researching sites like this, it looked like this case and the Speck Toughskin are the two best cases for the Zune 30. I bought this one, but haven't seen the Speck.
Likes:
- Can remove easily from the case. This is important if you use the Zune in a dock (including a speaker dock like the Altec Lansing), or if you use the Belkin Tunepower (an additional battery pack).
- Nice looking colors (black, grey, tan lining) that help disguise my brown Zune's unattractive color.
- Built-in screen protector. Haven't noticed it's there, so I guess it's not visible in use.
- Open sync/charge port. With wireless sync, I'm no longer attaching the Zune to the computer. Instead, I charge by attaching the sync cord to an A/C adaptor that has a USB output. (I've found that lithium ion batteries, which are supposed to only have about a two-year lifespan, are lasting more than four years in my lightly-charged devices, so separating charging from syncing has given me the ability to limit my Zune charge cycles.) If you're worried about lint from your pocket getting into the port, then this open port is not an advantage.
Dislikes:
- The clip is far from foolproof. It's too easy when bending for your thigh to push the large Zune off your belt. Happened two times during the first hour I had it on my belt. If you're just going for a walk, for example, this might not be an issue.
- The thick leather around the exposed click wheel means that when intending to click ff or rew, you sometimes instead accidentally activate the buttons to the far left (go back) or far right (play/pause). I've adjusted mostly, getting my whole finger into the recessed click wheel area before clicking with the edge of my finger or fingernail.
The reviews of the Speck indicate that belt clip is secure. They also indicate it's more difficult to pull your Zune in and out of the Speck case.

IF this is for the "Zune" then you know it isn't going to fit the Zune 80GB which is longer and slimmer than the "Zune"

of course it is the only case i have ever tried, but having tried it, i don't think i will ever get another one. it shows the screen wonderfully and all the buttons are reachable. so... good job belkin!

The case has a nice design and the Zune fits perfectly inside. The clear LCD protector does not distort your video or images. There's only one issue that you should be aware of and that is if you have the docking station for your Zune, you will have to remove the Zune from the case before you can dock it. I don't find that to be an issue but I thought I bring that to your attention. Other than that, you can attach the USB cable to the Zune while it is inside the case without a problem.

Hi , i'm Dwayne Majors Owner of holosonic Home Theater , 99% of the time i would never use inwall speakers , but for a large bed room system i had too consider looks first sound second ! That just drives me nuts just thinking about it . So how did i make it work ? I build every hometheater the same way , with six full range (20 cycles to 20,000 cycles human hearing range) floor standing speakers ! With the speakers properly positioned in a 360 degree circle , with the chair in the dead center , this creates a holosonic sound field , now you get the name anyway it leaves its listener in the perfect position to hear music or movie soundtracks accurately ,its so good you just have to hear it to believe it! Thats what i was up against . So i went to the one place that never let me down . Amazon.com ! After looking at some bookshelf speakers i saw the Phoenix Gold inwall and the rest is history ! With some tweaking the Phoenix gold speakers teamed with a good subwoofer really sound and yuk look good ok i said it ! Will i do another system based on inwall speakers oh no , but i will use amazon.com anytime for tough jobs ! Thanks again amazon from Dwayne Majors .

These speakers are a terrific bargain. I purchased these on sale for under $40 per pair, and these are easily comparable to $200/pr speakers. I did our entire downstairs and outside porch with Phoenix Gold speakers for what it would have cost to purchase just one pair of similar speakers from an audio store. I'm thrilled.
The construction is solid. The crossover is excellent...not something you normally find on a speaker in this price range. The sound is bright. I deducted one star because of the brightness. If you can surround this speaker with a box or at least with insulation in the ceiling, it will improve the sound greatly. Also, I'm driving these with a digital amp, and it's clean and crisp. If these were driven by a warmer receiver, the brightness may become a non-issue. Also, brightness is subjective to each individual's ear.
One thing I didn't realize is that these speakers have a tweeter than can be aimed. That's unheard of at this price point.
Personally, I wouldn't use these for my primary home theater speakers, but for whole-house audio, background music, etc., I think they can't be beat for the price. I recommend them highly.

I wasn't expecting audiophile quality speaker at this price but neither was I expecting speakers that had such a tin-like sound. I have bookcase speakers (smaller and similarly priced) that sound fuller. You get what you pay for - I guess I just expected better after reading other Amazon users' reviews.
Fantastic speakers at an incredible price!.......2007-11-17
I recently purchased the Onkyo HT-SR600 home theatre in a box system and wanted to replace the rear speakers with in-ceiling ones. I did plenty of research and decided to give these a shot since the reviews were so good. Even though my house was pre-wired for surround sound, I was still pretty nervous about installing these. Fortunately everything went perfectly smooth and they sound amazing. The instructions fail to tell you how to remove the grill but after a quick visit to their website I found it. Basically just push the mounting screws from the back which pushes against the front grill. I ordered these from Amazon on a Wednesday with Free Super Saver Shipping and they arrived the next day!

I purchased two pair of these speakers to use with my Sonos music system. The speakers are powered with 50 watts each and sound great, especially when you consider the amount paid. I know the sound quality will vary depending on installation, but I was pleasantly surprised with the bass output from these speakers. I am considering building a box around them to see if I can gain additional low end performance since I can access the rear of the speakers from my attic. I highly recommend these speakers to anyone looking for a moderately priced but great sounding whole-house audio system. I will definitely add more pairs when I add additional zones to my Sonos system.
