Great product!.......2007-08-09
I have had this product for about a week now and really like it. It was very easy to set up and use, I think I only opened up the instruction manual once. The sound quality is pretty good for a product of this price. I like that it charges my iPod, although I am a little concerned about the battery on my iPod dying sooner because of constantly being charged (as has happened to me w/ cordless phones), so have tried to wear down the battery more throughout the day so that it actually needs to be charged. The dual alarm clocks are great and the many options available to wake me up have been very nice (Also, a HUGE plus is that when on iPod wake mode and the iPod is not docked, it backs up to buzzer!). I also love the little remote, but hope I don't lose it. I think I'm already more relaxed not having to wake up to the blaringly annoying buzzer of my old alarm clock and instead, most days, waking up to the songs I love from my iPod. I would recommend getting yourself one of these if this is the price range that you are limited to!
IPOD alarm function, too loud!.......2007-08-07
I bought this product based on the sole glowing review. There is one major problem with the unit. When using the IPOD for wakeup, the Volume is blaringly loud. The lowest the volume will go to is 10!!!
When listening to the IPOD normally while its docked the Volume can be taken down to Zero.
The only song I can wake up to is "New Slang" by the Shins because the song gradually gets louder from the start.
I can't recommend this product.

The first Radio/Alarm Clock with ipod dock was too large and the sound quality terrible. The second Radio/Alarm Clock with ipod dock was smaller but the clock had no back light what so ever therefore nearly impossible to see. The third Radio/Alarm Clock with ipod dock was "just right". Love my new Fisher Studio Standard Stereo Radio/Alarm clock w/ Dock for ipod!!
One comment regarding ipod docs. If you frequently use the ipod docking you will eventualy deplete the battery's ability to sustain a full charge. Recommend discharging ipod battery regularly.
Fisher Does the iPod - FINALLY a great ipod clock radio!.......2007-06-08
I purchased this item through amazon's sponsored businesses in April of this year, and I am thoroughly satisfied. Truly. First, it IS a clock radio, and that is what I was looking for. Something for the bedroom. But the quality is pretty good, you could put it anywhere. The PH-DTA300 is light-weight, small enough, and feature rich (for a clock radio). And it plays and charges your ipod. The remote is cool and works well. I LOVE THIS THING.
OK, now some of the details. But first, I apparently found this model just as it was being released as I went to the Fisher website and found this model there. It looked great to me and I was under the impression that the SA258 (also available at amazon from Fisher) was an older model. But the units look so similar it may be hard to know what makes them different. So as I was perusing amazon and came across this cryptic titled listing again, and to my surprise, still, there were no photos or details (as of today). So I was compelled to supply them..
I did quite a bit of looking before settling on this Fisher. Some of the things I like, are - this has a real radio too. There is a wired FM antenna w/ good reception, a very good removable AM antenna included, with plugs for AUX IN and OUT on the back. Also accepts a battery underneath in case the power goes (and it always does..) The front LCD is easy to read and will turn off if you don't want that bright light shining while you sleep (I like this). The remote works just as it should, I use the remote all the time, especially when I'm listing to audio where I need to take notes and that pause button totally saves the day - it stops right where you want it and starts up again without having missed a thing, I rarely have to rewind, but with the remote that's easy to do too.
Sound quality. Remember it IS a clock radio. But having said that, it's not a Bose (bucco bucks) but the sound is very good and actually much better than pretty much everything else I've listened to while shopping around.
Dual alarms is great. Radio presets on the remote. The whole unit is really not big at all. It's fit where any other standard size clock radio would. Great sound - gets loud enough and is clear. As I said before, I love this thing. Couldn't be happier and SO glad I waited as I waded through the mass of poor quality ipod speaker systems to finally find this gem. It was under 100 bucks. For what it does, it's worth every penny.

I love this product!.......2007-05-08
iPod player- Charges my iPod in no time. Sound is great, loud and clear. I even use it as a portable stereo for dinner parties. Can only switch among tunes on a particular list or shuffle using the clock, though. If you want to change playlist/artist/whatever, have to do so manually on the iPod.
Radio- Digital tuning, good FM reception
Alarm clock- pretty easy to set, dual alarms, can wake up to radio, iPod, or buzzer
Remote- allows you to switch between radio and iPod, change volume, change tune or station. Very convenient and tiny!
I've had this for about 6 months now and it's been nothing but great! I highly recommend it!

Wonderful Sounding Speakers.......2007-12-24
I connected these speakers as my front left and right speakers for my home theater room (connected to a Yamaha RX-V661 receiver). These speakers are wonderful to listen to. They reproduce sound (theater and music) very accurately and beautifully. I would buy another pair if I needed speakers. Great sound, great price.
Satisfying classical listening, especially with subwoofer.......2007-12-23
I purchased these along with the PSW 10 subwoofer to use with a TEAC Reference Series tuner and CD player. I listen almost exclusively to classical music, and what I was looking for was a concert-hall sound. Without the subwoofer, the bass was too cloudy for my taste, especially the lowest notes on piano recordings. Once I added the sub, I am extremely satisfied. The sound is amazingly realistic, precise, rich, and warm. For a combination under $1,000 this is an excellent sound. I wish I had put this together years ago! --If you're using these near a television or computer (which I'm not), opt for the PSW 12 subwoofer that has magnetic shielding the PSW 10 lacks.
Great speaker. .......2007-12-05
I have been using a pair of Monitor 50 for a couple of years. I am very happy with it. I have a small listening area (18x16) so I looked for accurate and clean sound rather than power; I like to be practical when buying A/V euipments and I also have a 50/50 split between listening to music and going 5.1. For the price and for my needs, the Monitor 50 is just great.
These speakers can reproduce a very broad range and good quality of sounds with pretty good bass. They can also take a whole lot of power and I have not noticed any stress on them when played at reasonable high volumes.
I use a Polk Audio PSW10 subwoofer. One time I had accidentally turned it off for a few days. During that time, the Monitor 50s just breezed through all the music; I didn't even notice that the subwoofer was missing until I played a loud action movie.
The footprint is slim and just about right. Construction is very good and they look nice except for the plastic feet which took a few days to get used to. I also have a pair of M30 as rear speakers and a RM202 center speaker and the set works quite well.
The Monitor 50 is terrific; unbeatable when price is considered.
Highly recommended.
Polk Monitor 50's.......2007-10-24
I bought a pair of these recently and was impressed with the clarity and performance with my old 100 watt amp.I replaced a pair of Infinity studio monitors that blew after many years,these had 10 inch woofers and the Polks have 2-5 inch but I don't see the need for a sub woofer at this time.These Monitor 50's have great range and would recomend these in this price range to any one looking for great sound and are not too expensive.
Fantastic quality for the money.......2007-08-22
I give them 4 stars simply to recognize that they aren't quite as good as my Focal/Martin Logan media room speakers which cost far more but they are very, very good and really pretty close to unbeatable for the money. I use them as front speakers in our high-ceilinged family room with a small Polk center channel, a Polk 10" sub and Monitor 30's in the back and they fill the space nicely with a clean, warm sound. I also really like the modernist design and the small footprint.
