Has worked well for me, but has it's flaws.......2007-12-02
I've owned this for over two years now and it continues to serve me well. The reason I prefer the airplay2 over the i-trip is because it allows me to charge it in the car while in use and also detaches from the charger so I can use it on my radio at home. That is really the advantage to this transmitter over others. I found that the signal strength is quite good, and haven't had much trouble finding open stations in several major cities I've used it in. The main problem, and the reason I would recommend getting the upgrade version (called the airplay boost) is because it doesn't lock in to the bottom of my ipod. It is always coming undone in the car and I basically have to hold it in while I switch tracks, or find a new album or whatever. It is really very annoying. I'd definitely go for the boost if you want a good quality transmitter that can function with or without a charger.

I love this item. It works well with my radio in my truck, car, and also any radio I own in my home. I also like that it has multiple stations to choose from, so if you are on a long trip you can change it if needed. I love the fact that you can also plug your ipod car charger into the bottom of it if needed while playing it through your radio. This way you never have to lose your music!
Performance is wildly different between my cars.......2007-05-14
One of my cars has an antenna built into the windshield and this unit works great, albeit a little muffled due to the fact that it's not directly wired to the car's stereo (typical of all of these FM transmitter type of units). I'd give it 4 stars on the first car.
My other car has an antenna that raises and lowers at the back of the car near my trunk. The unit won't work at all inside the car. However, if I hold the iPod with the unit installed and on outside the driver's window, it picks it up well. On the back window ledge it also works well, but I can't get to it from back there and it slides around, so that doesn't work for me. I'd give it 1 star on the second car with the "traditional" rod antenna at the back of the car.
Your mileage may vary, but the closer this unit is to the antenna with no metal obstructions, the better it works.
A Gamble........2007-02-23
It's a gamble. It may work for you in your stereo and city? It just doesn't work for me in my stereo and my city. It almost works if I hold onto it. But, upon letting go comes the sound of static/interference. It's an ugly sound.
I'm going for the hardwired fm transmitter. A more involved install, but no noise.

It's simple & easy to use. I bought this b/c I wanted to spend less than $50 on a FM Transmitter & I wanted a separate auto charger. It works well for me. I have no problems with it. I get clear reception on the lower FM frequencies (mine is set to 88.5) and I live in the country, so it's usually hard getting clear FM stations to come through. I have also had no problems with the adapter port like the other users. I like how it has another adapter port so you can plug in a charger at the same time. It works for me & the price is great!

I had been looking to replace my B&W center speaker for 2 reasons: 1. It was too big, and 2. it did not perform as well as i had hoped. I have 2 athena F2s for my fronts and 2 athena B2.2s for my rears. I have an Athena P-4000 subwoofer and now the C1.2 for my center channel and i could not be more pleased. Not only does it outperform speakers that are 10 times more expensive it plaYS FANTASTIC CLEAR DIALOGUE!! I have heard complaints and worries from consumers who are unsure if this will perform up to standards with the F2s or F2.2s. WELL IT WILL AND MORE!! Dont hesitate, you will be satisfied and it matches up so well with all of the other athena speakers.And once you reach the suggested 50 hour break-in point, it sounds even better!! Very Very happy!!Also sounds unbelievable with sacd and dvd audio.
