deceptive photo, icky quality.......2007-08-12
For starters, this product looks nothing like the picture. The connector chord is actually white with chrome-colored metallic bases on each end that the connector prongs spring out of. On a stand-alone basis, the product looks great; however, in a car with a gray or dark interior, it really looks out of place.
On the issue of quality, all I've got to say is that my Belkin connector cable broke beyond repair less than two weeks after I took it out of the box (one of the connector prongs snapped in half). What a buzz kill.
I feel oddly qualified to opine on mp3 connectors given that, including my Belkin cable, I've now owned three different mp3 connectors. The two I would highly recommend as being much higher quality than this Belkin product (and, ironically enough, they're both cheaper than the Belkin) are the Sony RK-G136 Audio Connecting Cord (have had it for more than 14 months now--never any problems, never any complaints, and it's still going strong) and the Recoton ACW 343 Audio Stereo Mini Cable (the broken Belkin's de facto replacement in our second/other car; it looks and feels very durable, tho I must note that I've been using it a mere fraction of the time that I've been using the aforementioned Sony connector cable).
sleek and sophisticated.......2006-03-22
Yes - this is a sleek and sophisticated cable. I used it to connect my mac mini and LCD TV. Turns out (by luck) that the cable matches the mac in color and texture - a big plus - and feels like a quality product (not my typical experience with Belkin). The price was reasonable.

I was looking for a super fast solution and wanted to connect my computer to the stereo speakers. The Mini-Stereo Audio cable also can connect portable audio equipment with mini-stereo jacks.
3.5mm Plug to a 3.5mm Plug
If you need to plug this into the "game input" on a stereo, the ARISTA 18-002 Y Adapter - 2 RCA Female to 1 RCA Male might work to split this back into a Left and Right stereo speaker system.

Great speakers.......2007-06-27
I love these speakers. I got the 7.1 version of these speakers last Christmas for my living-room and liked them so much I just got the 5.1 system for my bedroom. In my living-room I put them on the optional JBL FS-1000 floor speaker stands which look great but are expensive. For my bedroom I used the provided wall mounts. Keep in mind the wood screws that you need to secure the mounts to a beam in a wall are not included (4 screws for each speaker). This will delay installation If you don't have any around the house and have to go to a hardware store like I did. When you are ready, mounting the speakers to the wall mounts is very easy. Once installed the speakers can be tilted to whatever angle you want at nearly a 45 degree angle in any direction because the bolt that you connect to the speaker has a ball end that attaches to the the wall mount.
As others have mentioned the subwoofer is large, but I don't think it's unattractive. The deep base it provides is powerful and will shake the room in action scenes. It has it's own volume control and a on or auto feature that will only activate when it senses you are watching or listening to something. The speakers are not tiny either but also not so large that they are the focal point in your room. For their size they hold their own against speakers twice their size without any distortion or fear that they will break if played loud . All speaker wire is included and is very thin. There is enough wire to give you the flexibility to place your surround sound speakers where you want them for a large bedroom or a medium sized living-room. Overall I have been very impressed with these speakers and for their price it's hard to beat.

I bought this product after seeing a good review in Consumer Reports. I wanted small speakers and the advertised dimensions seemed to fit my needs. Unfortunately I did not check the size of the base woofer. It is the size of a small doghouse! I returned the speakers without ever listening to them.

We purchased this system looking for a decent surround sound speaker set at a good price. We are very pleased with these speakers. These are great for surround sound, but we also enjoy listening to music. I was surprised at how large the subwoofer was - you could use it for an end table! The speakers are easy to set up and connect. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive surround sound speaker set who also wants to listen to music.
