tons of annoying pops.......2006-11-24
the thing gets tons of static electical charges and makes really annoying pops. I contacted startech customer support and got no response. the thing is barely usable with this current issue. If the pops weren't there, I'd be pretty happy with it. alas.
Simplicity.......2006-08-14
I am very pleased with the Airlink's size and simple design. It performs very well when signal path is unobstructed but has eight channel options, if needed, for enhanced performance. Unobtrusive and steady.
Useful audio transmitter.......2006-04-09
The printed S:N specs on this little transmitter-receiver set are unimpressive but you wouldn't know it from the pleasing sound it makes, and the setup is a snap. Don't be scared off by the MP3 reference. It transmits analog audio, regardless of original format.
I had previously tried a low-power FM transmitter. It worked but was very static-prone. And, of course, it requires the user to provide a tuner. This comes with a receiver and is static free.
When I first got the unit, I plugged the transmitter into the headphone jack of my receiver, plugged my headphones into the receiver unit, went downstairs and plugged in the AC power supply in different rooms. Clean, static-free music. Ditto when I plugged the transmitter into my Creative Zen Nano Plus.
The sound is good enough to consider getting several more receivers and putting them in different rooms to have the same thing playing throught the house. But I can't find anywhere to purchase receivers by themselves. The receiver is so small and light, carrying it to the room you plan to be in isn't a problem.
Battery power would be nice, but isn't an option. It runs off a 9V AC adapter. I'm sure someone will be able to rig up a battery pack. Then using it with a headphone would really shine.
PROS:
-- easy to set up
-- plays anything
-- clean sound
CONS:
-- can't find any place that sells more receivers
-- no battery power option
-- disrupted if near a working microwave oven

Just OK-.......2007-06-13
Spend the extra buck- this remote works with everything, however, the buttons are too small. The buttons have started to wear off after the first 6 months. Most numbers are completely gone and the weird thing is that I never use the number pad. NEVER - EVER! Why are they rubbing off? I wish I would have went with another remote model from Harmony!
Quite good! Works great...........2007-06-08
I bought this to control a plasma, receiver, dvd, and my satellite. They all work well, and the remote does exactly what it's supposed to do. The internet programming is easy, (at least for me it was). I think the only "problem" I could think of is the small buttons. Other than that..... I'm happy. Oh, I've been using this for about a year now.
Harmony Brings Harmony.......2007-03-08
The remote works great with all my living room components and will probably upgrade to a remote that will work in many rooms in the future. Only problem was using the install disc but I had read that downloading the installation format on Logitech works great for other products they have and it did.
Logitech Harmonty H-688.......2006-11-10
Summary: Great features, tiny buttons, wish the screen was wider
Details: Using Logitech's online configuration tools, you can easily program the remote for pretty much any device (I couldn't find a remote that I could program for my new Vizio TV and this device works just fine).
If I were to improve on this device, I would:
1. enlarge the buttons, my wife stopped using the remote after a day because she kept hitting two buttons at the same time
2. make the screen wider, so the text describing the functions fits in there. on a lot of functions, the text appears to be the same; for example, "input S-Video 1" and "input S-Video 2" just show up as "input S-Video"
Very good but fataly flawed.......2006-05-25
I have two of these remotes which I purchased about a year ago and for the most part have been happy with them.
My initial impression was very positive. The layout is pretty good and the backlighting is very bright. Most buttons are in logical locations and using the remote with one hand is fairly easy.
I do have a minor issue with the function selector buttons at the top because they are unreadable in the dark (the backlighting doesn't shine through those buttons) and not very easy to read even in the light. Once you memorize which ones do what (or which colors do what) it's no big deal, but you'll still be turning on lights and squinting to find the ones you don't use very often.
The other buttons are pretty easy to find, especially when you hit the backlight button (which is in a convenient location near the middle of the remote). I'd like it better if there was some tactile difference among the buttons in the big ring though since they're so tiny and difficult to tell apart by touch. The same with the playback control buttons, they all feel the same in the dark so finding Play versus Pause usually means turning on the backlight for me.
The web setup isn't too difficult initially, but changing things once you've gone through their setup wizard is a bit of a pain. Not horrible, but not easy either -- it took me a while to figure out how to remove my old amplifier from the setup and use my new one instead. Should you ever need to replace your remote (see below :) then it's easy to just plug another one in and download the configuration from the website.
Battery life has been pretty decent, even with rechargable NiMHs, but the remote gives little warning of low batteries. The backlight stays bright and there's no indication that the batteries are getting low except that my devices start having trouble receiving commands. So every couple of months I find myself getting frustrated that my devices aren't responding well and then eventually thinking maybe it's the batteries (which it usually is). Once I replace them everything is happy again.
The reason I only give the remote a 3 is that several buttons on both of my H688 remotes have either stopped working entirely or require a lot of pressure to engage. This is terrible, especially in a modern and expensive remote -- even my cheap remotes don't usually have key failures unless I drop them in a soda or something. I took one apart to see if it was just dust or something and found that Logitech uses little metal dome buttons on the circuit board. I suspect that this type of button oxidizes over time and loses conductivity. Cheaper remotes use a simple and relatively large conductive pad that presses down on plated contacts on the circuit board. Logitech's buttons give you that nice clicky feel when you push them, but I'd trade the clicky feel for quiet, squishy, but reliabile cheap buttons any day. Remotes costing this much just shouldn't become unusuable after only a year or so worth of use.

Did not get it yet.......2007-08-23
I wish I could review this item that I ordered in June, but first shipping date was July 20th, then September and now I received a letter saying it will be shipped on November 26th.
I don't know how the item is, but I know the company is very bad.
I'm not rating the item, I'm rating the store.

fits perfect in a corner TV niche.......2007-01-29
I looked for something like this for a while. I have a corner TV niche above the fireplace and needed something for my components that didn't take up too much room height wise. This 42 inch turntable is the perfect solution. I ended up taking the swivel part off of the base. It wasn't difficult and it wasn't needed for my purpose. It is very sturdy. It will easily hold over 200 pounds. The compartments are sufficient to hold my receiver for my surround sound system on one side and my DVD player and satelite receiver on the other side. Here are the dimensions I obtained from Home Decorators before I bought the item: Inside has a divider in the center making 2 spaces which measure 17 5/8"w x 15 1/4"d x 6 1/2"h top is 6sided front is 41 7/8" front sides 15 1/4" back sides 9" back 29 1/8" Divider measures 6 1/2"h x 14 1/8"d x 5/8" thick Top has a 2 1/4" lip around the edges Base board: 15 1/2"d x 38 1/2"w.
Two tier turntable - small and compact.......2007-01-13
Its small and compact. Exactly what we were looking for. Holds our 27" TV fine while not taking up any space. The turntable is easy to turn the TV.
Need dimensions.......2005-01-23
In response to previous reviewer, if this product is similiar to Vantage Point TNTB04B (black) - BestVue Two-Tier VCR/TV Swivel for 30-36" TV's per, then the dimensions are 32" x 19" D (platform size) and 4 1/2" H x 17 1/2" W (storage space) as per www.racksandstands.com. Max. weight is 200 lbs. and it rotates 360 degrees. Hope that helps.
