Inside the sculpted, real wood cabinet are dual, 5.25-inch Dynamic Balance drivers with resonance-suppressing aerated polypropylene cones for wide response and low distortion. The 1-inch ring radiator tweeters in the LSi9 speakers provide extended frequency response, low distortion, excellent dynamics, and superior detail and transparency. The tweeter's ultra-light woven diaphragm is supported at two pivot points, with the voice coil attached between the two points. With very little unsupported material, there's less opportunity for performance-robbing resonance to develop. A mylar bypass capacitor in the high-pass crossover extends and flattens high frequency response so you hear musical details found in high definition formats such as SACD and DVD-Audio.
Rear-firing patented Power Port vents built into the back plates provide distortion-free bass and double as convenient wall-mounting brackets. This venting extends and strengthens the speaker's lower-midrange performance for a seamless blend with a subwoofer. The dual, front-mounted Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC) port system reduces unwanted internal enclosure resonance for clear midrange reproduction, eliminating unnatural thickness to voices. Also, the LSi9 speakers are timbre-matched with the LSi Series, for a seamless, realistic surround sound experience.
Dual (bi-ampable), gold-plated five-way binding post inputs provide secure wire connections and versatile wiring options.

Fantastic pair of speakers. I originally bought RTi7's from my local audio visual store. I really liked the RTi's (very good sounding and clean, but not especially attractive), but when I price checked them online to see if I had gotten a good deal (I had), I stumbled across reviews for the LSi9's and could not resist seeing if they were better. I ordered them through Crutchfield via Amazon, and they showed up in 48 hours or so -- free shipping. They are beautiful speakers to look at, and the sound is worth every penny. I hear new sounds on all my old CDs -- people breathing during the recordings of classical and piano pieces, etc.). I am now planning to switch out the RTi5 center channel which I bought with the fronts for the LSiC ... the difference between the LSi line is impressive enough to me that I figure it's worth the few hundred extra dollars for world class speakers (and did I say beautiful looking speakers, which I know shouldn't matter, but does) ... I highly recommend the Polk LSi9's if you are ready to move beyond Best Buy level stuff.

I buy these to record an hour long radio program on each side without a dead spot. After about 15 years I've found the Maxell's and TDK's about equal and I buy them in bulk from whoever has a good deal. They do the job.

Maxell manufactures excellent 120 minute cassette tapes for all purpose general recording. As long as you have the right kind of equipment, these tapes record the sounds of record albums, radio shows, CD-Rs, people talking and just about anything else. These tapes have 120 minutes worth of blank recording tapes on them so there are 60 blank minutes for recording on each side. This is useful when recording one hour radio talk shows, for example.
The tapes allow you hours upon hours of listening enjoyment; and they take up very little room so they're easy to carry around with you.
There is one disappointment; however. These tapes cannot produce the same quality recording reproduction as a digitalized copy would give you. This means that if, hypothetically, you were to copy a CD-R onto another CD-R instead of a Maxell cassette tape, the quality of the sound on the CD-R copy would be sharper and clearer with less background noise than a Maxell cassette tape or any other brand of cassette tape could give you. Moreover, cassette tapes--especially the 120 minute kind with its thinner than usual tape--can break if not handled with care. These shortcomings frustrate me and therefore I will have to take off one star to make this a four star review.
The tapes have small pieces of plastic on the narrow top of each cassette which you can punch out easily so that accidental recording over an existing recording is impossible. If you decide to record over an original recording then you can merely place a small amount of regular tape over the hole. The cassette tape is now ready to record a fresh recording.
Overall, Maxell makes a superior choice when you want reliable cassette tapes to record music, the radio, people talking or anything you wish to record. I have used this brand for years and I cannot think of any major complaints. I highly recommend Maxell 120 minute cassette tapes for you to use when you need to record something onto a tape.
