Many sophisticated design techniques, superior materials, and an exceptional termination system combine to make Diamondback possible. The result will put more than ascare into most cost-no-object cables. Diamondback is Double-Balanced. This means there are identical insulated conductors for the positive and negative connections, in addition to a separate conductor underneath the 100% coverage foil shield. The great advantage of this design, over even the very effective symmetrical conductor system in AQ Sidewinder and Copperhead, is that the shield is only attached at one end, providing extremely effective shielding without contaminating the quality of the negative conducting path. PSC (Perfect Surface Copper) has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Proprietary metal processing technology protects the wire's surface at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low distortion conductor. For fifteen years AudioQuest has pioneered the use of superior metals; yet even we were surprised by this huge leap in performance. PSC clearly outperforms previous AQ metals that costover ten times as much. Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation, circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Diamondback uses air filled FPE (Foam Polyethylene) insulation on both conductors because air absorbs next to no energy, and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in FPE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.

These cables performed well in my computer system (this was not a low-end system--please see my review of M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 Speakers for the full story). I have also used their predecessor (Viper) cables in my AV system. When I used the Vipers, I compared them with the next two levels down of Audioquest cables. Each increment in price brought an increment in sound quality. I have to say that the imaging and fatigue factor didn't really hit the spot until I got to the Vipers. I have found the Diamondbacks to be very similar in overall character, as far as the timber.

Speaking of which, if any one fault can be named, they are just the slightest bit on the lean side of neutral, but they still can convey a sweet midrange that is not typical of "lean". They do require extensive initial break-in (15-30 hours) before you'll hear that sweetness, though. Again, my review of the M-Audio speakers will give some indication. For the first 3 hours, the cables will sound very sub-par.

I recommend these cables highly. I believe they are at least the equal of the Vipers, if not far better. And they are definitely better than Kimber PBJ (which sounded much harsher than the Vipers).

No, they are not the King Cobra; if you can afford twice as much, then by all means do so. If your budget does not allow, then use these. If not, at least get the snake. They are still better than stock cables.

It sounds crazy, but cables matter. I have used a dozen different ones and they have gotten better and cheaper over the last dozen years. Note, they are directional. You will see arrows pointing in the direction of the signal.

But it is all to no avail if you do not keep the ends polished, and then lubricated with a little oil to finish the connection. This goes for polishing the sockets on the components. It even goes for the power cords. Try it. Take everything apart, polish all the ends on every component and cable and finish with oil and see how the sound improves.

Give your E550 an 8X telephoto.......2007-09-28

I'm using this adapter with the TL-FXE01, which changes my E550 from a 4X zoom to about 8X. Very nice to have when you can't get close enough for a good shot. The mount ring on the camera removes easily and the adaptor goes on with just a twist and a click. The AR/TL combo can really only be used at full zoom, or it's like looking down a dark tunnel with a bright spot at the end. The adapter is about 1.5" long (the existing camera lense opens up inside it) and the TL is another 1.75" on the end of that, so the E550 isn't going to fit in your pocket anymore with this on it. I only put it on when I really need it.

No se guien por la foto ya que sale achatado el adaptador. Es menos grueso. Cuando lo compre estaba un poco temeroso pero cuando llego mi preocupacion se termino. Le queda muy bien y ahora le puedo adaptar lentes de 43 mm sin ningun problema.
