As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various audio products and recordings from the 60's and 70's.

PHILIPS USA PH62020 Wet-type Cassette Head Cleaner

A cassette deck can be cleaned two ways. The PH62020 offers the quicker approach (It will not give you the results of the more time consuming). The labor intensified cleaning means taking the door off the deck (For the units that allow this) and cleaning the pinch rollers and heads with specifically designed swabs and fluid.

If you want faster results, PHILIPS has done almost all the work for us. The cleaner looks like a standard cassette. The instructions will specify the amount of liquid to add to the cleaning tape and the length of time to play in the deck. Presto that is it!

As always, try to use quality tapes such as Maxell or TDK for the cassette portion and please keep the tape heads clean or it circumvents the idea of a nice investment. Dirty heads will give the playback muddy results.

The cassette part of the cleaner worked fine, but the bottle of cleaner is IMPOSSSIBLE to use. Why? Because the plastic bottle is too thick to squeeze. In the end I just used regular, over the counter ethyl alcohol.

Aside from that, the product arrive on time and in good condition, and worked well once I added the ethyl alcohol.

My first cam, for home video only.

pic and sound are good, with adapter you can play tape on any VCRs. pretty light in my view, i can easily operate with one hand, battery life is 1.5 hour, compatible batteries can provide better number.

only has black & white viewfinder, no LCD, but for this low price, i can live with it.

overall, good cam for first time or entry level user who just want to record some family moments and share it, for that purpose this is a good choice.
