Good and Reasonably Priced.......2007-12-27

We purchased these cute binoculars for a recent trip we took. We wanted something light and compact to put into my pocket book just in case we wanted a closer look while sightseeing. They were perfect as we went to Sedona, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas and we would have definitely been disappointed without them. These binoculars had a very good view and steady feel. We got a really close look at the condors soaring over the Grand Canyon. We found the binoculars to be of good value and performance.

Bought as a gift for my father. he needed something small and lightweight which these are. I dont know how clear and how crisp the ocular qualities are, as Ive not been the one to use them. But he hasnt had any complaints.

Broke after 2 uses and exit pupil too narrow.......2007-10-20

I've only used these twice and the 2nd time was star gazing and the focusing mechanism in the left lens stopped working without an apparent cause of damage. The small exit pupil diamater has always resulted in serious eye strain as well, making perfect alignment a requirement for getting any usable images.

You get what you pay for.

Opera Goer.......2007-10-02

I bought these binoculars as a companion to the opera. I used them yesterday for the first time, and I must say these do the job just great. The size is very small, so you can put them in a small purse, and the touch and design of them are very delicate. I was sharing them throughout the whole performance, and I did not have any problem at all with the focus; they were in focus all the time. I did not know much about binoculars, so I did some research online before buying. I found out Bushnell was a very reliable brand, and the price of these on Amazon is just great ($19.99 while I am writing this review). I wear glasses, so I have to take them off to use them properly; but that is just fine with me. My seats at the opera this year are among the worst, because I wanted to see the whole season for a cheaper price, so I needed to make sure I got binoculars. I am completely satisfied with these, and I do not need any fancier or more expensive ones.

It takes just a little bit of adjusting to get it focused but it is fine for me to use whenever I need it.

Superb viewing both near and far with remarkable ease!.......2005-08-11

I've now owned these binocs for several months and been able to compare them with the top of the line Zeiss, Canon, and Nikon glasses I also own. They are simply superb--optically impressive and the most rapidly focusing and easy to aim of all the glasses I've tried. Unlike, the other reviewer (of a higher powered pair) I detected no color aberrations or fringing whatever. The close focusing also makes them very fine for butterfly and insect viewing. Somehow the overall design makes these glasses incredibly easy to handle, to aim and to focus with remarkable ease. For me, they're the best I've ever owned. Since binocular choice is often a matter of individual preference, it may be worth trying several brands before choosing the best "fit" for you(e.g., I think Svarovski's are also very fine).

Could be better.......2005-02-02

At first appearance these bondage clad binoculars, with their grey rubber armour and studded silver focusing rings, may appear a little strange, but after a few moments use the comfort and ease they offer for focusing becomes apparent and even begins to feel stylish. But should we judge this book by its cover?

These binoculars are aimed squarely at the top end of the market. I was lucky enough to pick them up at the British Birdwatching Fair and was able to compare them with all the contenders, and I found optically they compete with most of their rivals (the Swarovski ELs being the exception). What does make these stand out however is the close focusing of down to 3 feet, Ideal for the butterfly enthusiasts amongst us. Along with this goes Bruntons revolutionary new focusing system, which is finer and slower from 30 feet and lightening fast from 30 feet to infinity. Although this is not obvious at first, it soon becomes apparent when you switch from that distant highflying raptor to the flitting warbler in the bush by your side, the ease and speed with which you can swap is superb.

In low level light the clarity and brightness are easy to see, however in the very bright light white birds can appear to have a blue hue to them, which I found a little distracting, but this was the only drawback I encountered to their ultimately very good optical quality.

As for the accessories that come with these bins, the snap shut lens coverings are a good idea, however, I would personally prefer a rain guard style eyepiece cover. The carry case was a little large, but very useful for long term storage and protection. And the neck strap was too long (even at its shortest setting it hung around my stomach), although a bit of tape was all it took me to sort that out, and the comfort provided was very good and kept me from straining my neck on a long day in the field. The monopod and eyepiece extender (2x magnification) are a good idea, and prove a nice option for lightweight high magnification, but take slightly too long to set up for my liking, but that`s just personal choice (I`d rather carry a scope).

Overall they are an extremely good pair of binoculars, and most of my gripes were purely cosmetic.

Are these Binoculars good enough to compete at the top end? My answer is yes they are, they compare favourably with most others as I have already said. However, given that they are similarly priced to the Swarovski ELs, which are the benchmark at the moment and a brand that is well known and heavily promoted, it will take some doing for Brunton to break through. I fear that it will take a lot more than the interesting new features mentioned or even a more competitive price tag, to steal customers away from the well known and popular Swarovski or Lieca market leaders.
