Does not work on XBox 360.......2007-12-14
Just a head's up - these do not seem to work on the XBOX 360 game system. The 360 is notorious for scratching disks (regardless of Microsoft postings, this happens even when the system is IMMOBILE). I thought these would protect the $60 games I bought, but the system will not read them. DO NOT BUY!

Is a godsend for idiots that don't have the common sense to take care of their CDs. however, for us regular folk these discs are too risky for use on our discs. I applied one to my San Andreas disc and it loads, but I can't leave the savehouse. the sound is distorted and it takes a while for the system to load.

Definitly needs more research. When applied the DVD skip, are pixilated and other video problems. If the materieal were elastic, made to stretch over the disk to prevent wrinkles, it might be a good product. As it is, I don't think these should even be sold.
UPDATE: When I emailed the company with my dissapointment, I recieved a response within 30 minutes! They asked me questions about the batch number, DVD unit I use and then sent me another set of D-Skins which, up to this point, I have had no problem with.

I only bought a pack of 5 of these for my CDs, DVDs and Xbox games. They sounded like such a good idea. I heard that the laser on players would simply pass through the skin and they would be safe. It started with 5 stars. Here's my experience:
I wanted to play CDs in my slot-loading stereo. But it is NOT recommended that CDs are played in slot-loading multi-disc players with a skin on. That's one less star from the score.
Then I wanted to use them on my DVDs. My DVD player sputtered like a computer with an aneurysm when I tried a monumental task: trying to get my DVD to its main menu. One less star. I then took off the d_skin, and the DVD played fine. The redemption felt good, but I took off another star.
Finally, the Xbox. The Xbox made sputtering noises too, and it COULDN'T EVEN TELL what kind of disc it was with the d_skin on. One less star. Once again, I took of the skin, and both the Xbox and game were fine. Still, one more star gets taken off the score.
In addition, I blew $5 on this trash. That's $5 I'll never see again: take off 5 more stars.
So, we come to a score of negative -5 stars. NEVER buy this trash. The skins crinkle way too easily, too. The plastic on the laser side is alwayus too loose. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

The CDfender and DVDfender products adhere directly to the discs eliminating the damage the clip on devices cause. You do use a label applicator to apply the film, but we manufacture and include in the starter kit an applicator that can be used to apply the film and any disc label. Canon's PowerShot range of cameras has always been strong, and the PowerShot 400 continues that tradition. The 4 Megapixel Canon PowerShot S400 digital camera is capable of taking still images at 2,272 x 1,704 pixels--enough for a good quality A4 print. Resolutions go down to 640 x 480 for images you might only want to look at digitally. You can also capture video at 320 x 240 and 160 x 120 pixels.
The camera is very small indeed--smaller than earlier PowerShot models, and is easily pocket sized. There is what at first might seem a bewildering array of buttons around the casing, but in fact these provide excellent one-button-press access to most of the most used features, such as the 3x optical zoom which goes up to 11x when combined with digital zoom features, the macro mode, settings for the flash and self timer. For more advanced features like changing the shutter speed, which it is great to be able to do on a digital camera; you do need to delve into the LED a little further, though.
Images are stored on CompactFlash card--the largest image can be a couple of MB in size so you'll need to think big when it comes to CF card size with this camera. The battery is removable, and a spare to carry in the pocket might be a good idea.

Have had this for 3 years. Worked great.
Recently dropped it in the Colorado river and it still survived.
So decided to write a review :) Camera does take great pictures and is very handy. Battery life is about 2 years and then you need to replace them.
Memory Card Error fix - just shake the camera really hard !!.......2007-07-08
I bought this camera in 2004 and about a year and a half into the use I had the memory card error problem, did a lot of research and read somewhere it was a loose circuit connection common to this model. Since my warranty had expired then and Cannon at that time would not repair it for free, I decided that if it is a loose connection, maybe if I shake it violently the circuit will reconnect, and it did!! Everytime the error message comes up (and it does recur quite regularly), I just shake my camera really hard (by the strap), turn it off and on a couple of times, and the magic works. Tonight I took the internal battery out and will check back in a few months to see if it will permanently resolve the issue. Because of the picture quality and I don't really need more than 4 megapixel, I still enjoy this camera. It has travelled with me all over the world and been thrown around countless of time in my luggage, it still takes great pictures.

I have had this camera for 4 or 5 years now. It takes great photos easily. Small enough to fix it your pocket, but not thin enough to break in your pocket when you sit down. I've dropped it more times than I care to remember and it still takes great pictures.
My only gripe about the camera is that it is FREAKIN' SLOW TO FOCUS. I'm suprised that my finger has not gone through the body of the camera a few times in trying to get the darn thing to click. But I say this about all digital cameras that I've used. This probably depends on how much the battery is charged, but tell that to a 3-year-old who won't stand still or a whale that just jumped out of the water.
By now, there are higher-resolution, faster cameras with bigger screens on the market, but I will stick with Canon when this one ultimately dies. Their optics and electronics are excellent.
Thank you so much schmalyn! Not only did removing/replacing the internal battery fix the "memory card error", but the function wheel (as I call it) now works too. I had always assumed it was a physical problem. The function wheel (with the manual overrides and movie functions) has not worked for 3 years -- maybe it never worked, but now it does.
Two comments, there are TEN not nine screws, and I would suggest marking the body of the camera with a thin permanent marker BEFOREHAND. The screws appear to be of different depths and thicknesses. One other thing, make sure you line up the camera/play switch inside and out before replacing the back casing.

This is just a great camera but now outdated at 4mp. but if you don't need the resolution, grab this. it's unbreakable. mine's been on every motorbike ride from lhasa to calcutta and most of the time i don't even have it in the case. its scratched, dented, and the paint is worn off, but it still performs flawlessly. canon, the only way to go.
