Absolutely loving this..........2007-05-15

Why blow 5 times the money on a wireless device, one which might suffer the occassional communication problem... when you can just tuck this super fat cable against the wall. Ok, so it ain't pretty, but it works, and I'm having a blast watching google videos and NBC's stored internet content on my TV screen through my laptop. Measure first... 50 feet isn't as long as you might think it is.

Point and shoot ease and full manual controls, the Olympus Camedia C-750 delivers sharp, crisp 4.0-megapixel images for print enlargements beyond 11 x 14 inches. The C-750 features a more compact body than its predecessor (the C-730), a new extra-low dispersion (ED) lens, movie mode, a built-in flash, and compatibility with XD memory cards. It also improves on the new C-740 with more megapixels (4.0 versus the 3.2 of the C-740), a 40x total zoom (10x optical and 4x digital zoom), addition of a hot shoe for external flash, an all metal body, and sound recording with movie mode.

Optics and Resolution
The 4.0-megapixel Olympus C-750 digital camera can capture images up to 2288 x 1712 pixels; it can also produce 3200 x 2400 pixel images through interpolation for extra-large prints. It boasts an outstanding Olympus aspherical glass 10x zoom lens with 11 lenses in 7 groups. When combined with the 4x digital zoom, you get a total zoom of 40x. The F2.8-F3.7 lens has a focal range of 6.3-63mm, or 38-380mm equivalent in 35mm photography. The ED coating on the lens helps reduce the purple fringing normally seen on larger zoom cameras.

The C-750 also features Olympus TruePic technology, which optimizes the image information captured on the CCD before the data is saved by using the brightness and color information of the neighboring pixels when processing the pixel data. This leads to digital pictures that set standards for picture sharpness, contrast, true colors, and gradation.

Storage and Transfer
With the C-750, you can store images on XD memory cards. With the included 16 MB XD card, you can store 16 images at HQ mode (2288 x 1712 pixels). Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB connectivity, which means it can be connected to any USB-based Windows Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.

Movie Mode
In movie mode, the C-750 captures continuous video (with audio) at 15 frames per second in two formats: 320 x 240 (up to 16 seconds) or 160 x 120 pixels (up to 30 seconds). The QuickTime Motion JPEG format offers a limited resolution, which is great for capturing a short movie that can be e-mailed to friends and family, but is no replacement for a true camcorder.

I can't find another like this.......2007-09-10

I am trying to find a smaller and lighter camera to replace my C-750uz because my wife says it weighs too much. And, as she likes to carry it everywhere we go, I decided to take a look on the new models. But there are features in the c-750 that I can't find in any other camera of its category.

No other camera, even the newest from Olympus, has a remote control like the c-750.
And there's no other in its category that has that awesome 10x optical zoom.

The only two reasons I have to replace it are its big size and its small display. And, of course, the complaint of my beloved wife.
I would also like something with SD instead of XD, but that is not a big issue.

I think I will end up buying another camera without selling my C-750.

A great camera with excellent image quality, hard to replace.......2007-08-19

I had this since 2003, I agree with jemaerca's detail assessment. Owing to its size, I was looking for a smaller replacement camera and failed miserably. I purchased several Olympus and Canon for the size (w/bigger LCD) but all have terrible/noisy image quality. Currently still searching.

I decided to write this because the C-750 produces pictures easily comparable to my wife's 2 other 8M+ digital SLRs with expansive add-on lens. She was amazed at C-750's image quality when she was testing/comparing her Canon EOS 30D + $1K+ lens. Although our family owns several digital cameras, the C-750 remains the one that takes the most pictures (indoor/outdoor, vacation,...) in our family today.

It's too bad that Olympus does not extend this product line, its SP-550uz is bigger/heavier and we don't need another digital SLR. It would be ideal if the C-750 is half its size with a bigger LCD.

Love it!.......2007-06-25

This camera has been my best friend for a long time. :) I use it all the time. It has a billion features that I never use, but the ones that I use are amazing. I love the photo quality (I get compliments all the time!). The flash and zoom are out of this world. I definitely recommend purchasing this camera.

I looked at reviews on several cameras within this price range and found that this olympus had wonderful reviews...and now I know why. It is a great camera, easy to use and I got it for the digital zoom which turned out to be better than I could imagine...

a vision comes to you when things are dark.......2006-05-21

I hadn't used a night vision device much before, and I got this because I had a little disposable income to dispose of. It really does a good job of bringing vision to the evening darkness, sort of like I imagine a cat or owl would see. To someone who doesn't know what this is or does, it's about as big as your hand, so it's portable. Has zoom feature (click to zoom, release and it's back to normal), brightness adjustment, and focus. A well-made, sturdy device, not flimsy. And it shows you stuff outside when it's dark out and your eyes are hopelessly incapable of gathering enough light to see anything. If you wanted to be in a cave, it'd be nice if you had it there to show you what was around you in the cave. Or I guess in the basement looking to see if that was a mouse running around, without turning on the lights. Maybe you are boating around at night and want a better look at what's ahead. Or the subway stops and all the lights go out (uh, a bit too big to carry around all the time for such a circumstance). Dunno. It really does work to show you things, sorta like a black-white TV image of the world when your eyes can't see a thing. You figure out if you need it.
