The V700 uses MPEG-4, a high-compression, high-quality movie clip file format, which can record up to 3 or 4 times longer than MJPEG, the usual format for DSC movie clips. It supports more than one hour of video and audio recording time if you are using a 256 MB memory card. Movies can then be played back at TV quality as the V700 can process movies at up to 30 frames per second. Clip length is limited only by the amount of memory available. The Movie Stabilizer feature ensures smooth video through correction of lateral and vertical camera movement caused by the operator's hand shaking. Additionally, the V700 provides a built-in movie clip editing function, enabling you to select part of a movie clip for saving, during playback. It also allows you to capture a selected part of a movie clip as a still image during playback.
The 2.0-inch TFT LCD screen provides a large focusing area and is also home to the camera's wider range of creative controls. The intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) allows you to easily navigate the camera's menu of features and capabilities. It also has a full range of custom choices including a variety of exposure modes, five ISO settings, and more.
Other features include:
- The Auto Macro function automatically adjusts shooting distance and focus. Press the macro button in Auto mode to set the camera to adjust distance and focus automatically from between four centimeters and infinity.
- Special effects include Highlight (emphasizes subject by putting surroundings into soft focus), Composite (divides a shooting scene into two to four segments and save it into a single file), and Photo Frames (adds a photo frame from three different choices).
- Live histogram shows a variety of shooting information, including brightness and contrast, to help you adjust exposure seamlessly.
- Manual control of exposure using Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Full Manual options.
- 11 scene modes: Night, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, and Beach & Snow.

Has all the necessary features. The anti-shake indicator lets you know that the image is going to be blurred. Specially like the Text mode, which let me take pictures of documents and print it while my photocopy machine was out of order.

I need a camera with >5MP and short movie feature.
This one looks cool since it comes with mpeg4 video and 7 MP. The reviews from Steve and other experts are not too bad. The sample pictures online are really nice to me.
So I bought it. I like it very much before I found this problem.
THE SOUND VOLUME of the VIDEO is VERY VERY LOW! you can barely hear it if you shoot someone a couple of feet away. How disappointing!
I called Samsung to make sure whethter it is a design issue or just this one I got is malfunctioning. The RP was so rude. She told me, "this is a still camera, no a video camera", "it is not a design issue".
I used Sony P-92 before. The volume level of that camera is very good. But this Samsung V700, what a flaw. Otherwise I will like it and keep using it.
I ended up sold it on ebay. Please avoid this one if you are inrerested in its mpeg4 video. It is not worth it.
