Optics and Resolution
Thanks to a high resolution CCD of 3.2 million effective pixels, clear and detailed prints as large as 11x14 inches are possible. The Schneider lens produces crystal clear images, and by using a highly refractive lens chromatics and distortion are eliminated. For more natural-looking pictures each lens surface is multi-coated. A 3x optical zoom can be combined with a 4x digital zoom to provide a total 12x zoom level. There are 3 kinds of manual exposure options, including Aperture priority, Shutter priority and Manual, which provide a diverse variety of exposure modes. You also can control focus manually.
Multi-patterned Auto Exposure Metering automatically adjusts exposure according to the various shooting conditions, while Spot Metering allows for control over more detailed exposure. In addition, the three types of Manual Exposure and Exposure Compensation are supported.
Storage and Transfer
Images and movies are stored on SD or MMC cards and the camera interfaces with a PC or Mac via a USB 1.1 cable.
Movie and Audio Modes
The Digimax V3 has a WAV sound recording function, which is ideal for recording events such as speeches and important business meetings. You can also capture AVI movie clips with sound and add commentary to your still images. This is limited only to the available memory capacity of the storage card.

The Digimax V3's Super Macro function makes it possible for you to capture images from as little as 6 cm away. Accurate focusing control has been made possible through precision design and lens cutting skills.
You can edit captured images easily, without the need for a PC. The Trimming function can be used to save only a certain part of the captured image and the Resizing function can be used to resize images.

Still Great after 1.5 years of use.......2005-03-18
After using SLRS and doing darkroom work for years, this was my first digital camera. I bought it almost two years ago. It takes great pictures, has easy controls, a nice movie mode (low resolution, but takes movies until the card is full). The start-up time is about 5-6 seconds. The LCD screen is a little on the small side (1.6 inches). On CR-V3 batteries, it can shoot for a long time (around 300 exposures, 70 of them flash pictures). I also use rechargable AA's on it, but those get eaten up after about 40 exposures.) My only complaint: the microphone for audio recording and audio on the movies is pretty lousy. It picks up soft sounds okay. Loud sounds distort, even when played back on a PC (the built-in speaker is pretty terrible). The photo software is above average. USB connection. Also, I dig the size, it is quite compact.
