It simply threads to the adapter on one end and the other end threads to your camera's lens. This is a one piece unit consisting only of the item labeled "Digital Adapter Ring" pictured above. This unit will thread to digital cameras with 28mm threaded accessory lens mounts. Common digital cameras with 28mm threaded accessory lens mounts are: Nikon COOLPIX 800, 910, 950, 990, 995, 4500. For other cameras see your owner's manual to find out your threaded accessory lens mount size. You will also need the separate item "TSN-DA1 Digital Photo Adapter Unit" in order to attach your camera to your Kowa spotting scope.
