The Kensington 64068 Micro Saver Notebook Lock protects your laptop computer from theft with a patented cable-and-lock system. This lock is constructed of a six-foot, super-strong, steel-composite cable with a carbon, tempered-steel core, and a patented, T-bar lock that provides superior lock strength and theft protection. Easy to install and use in the office or when traveling, this system locks into the standard Kensington security slot found in 99-percent of notebooks, as well as many flat-panel monitors, CPUs, projectors, printers, docking stations, tablet PCs, and other devices. I have three of these and I'm pleased with them. I leave two laptops secured to the desk at all times and the third sits in my laptop backpack ready for travel. These are light, and simple to operate. No complaints. I've used the Kensington brand laptop cables for years - I think since they first came out. I lose them periodically but keep buying more. I highly recommend.

As a bonus, it looks like the newer external hard drives are now being made with the laptop security "hole/notch" so you can secure these with the security cables also. Very nice. My new Seagate 500GB FreeAgent does for sure but I've seen the security features mentioned in reviews of other drives as well.

This product works well and while not impervious to tampering, when used properly, is an adequate deterent to the casual or sneak miscreant. The locking mechanism fits snugly against the notebook side and stays firm. The key is in proper and steady positioning while turning the key in the lock. We have experienced no damage to the notebook casing.

Not a bother with it. Works fine and all that. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a computer lock. Bit pricey.

Peace of mind with Kensington notebook lock and security cable.......2007-09-01

I'm a bit paranoid about using my Powerbook in public, since it is so easy to turn away for a moment and have someone grab it and run. And with my banged up knees I sure can't catch them! So after looking at reviews I purchased the Kensington Microsaver Notebook Lock and Security Cable. Now, whenever I use my laptop in public, I routinely cable lock it to a chair, table or whatever else is handy. I usually run the cable through the handles of my laptop bag as well for bag security. You do need to be realistic about the lock and cable. It does give you peace of mind, but use common sense about where you leave your laptop and for how long.
