I love this card.......2006-03-19

I own a Nikon D70, and no other card writes as fast as this in my camera. You can buy the Extreme III, but the faster speeds will only help you on the read side, most cameras simply can't write as fast as this card much less the more expensive III model.

If you're looking for the best performance in a DSLR, you've found it. It will be a year or more before any cameras are made that will write faster than this card can take. It also works well under the extremes that Sandisk claims: I have a Kingston CF card that refused to work outside during a winter storm. I swapped in the Sandisk Extreme and snapped away in the snow.

Buy it. You will not be disappointed.

Outstanding card.......2004-12-18

I wasn't planning on buying another CF card. I had a 4GB microdrive that stored 1000's of images, and a Ridata 52x 512MB card, so I was pretty well covered. That is, until one day the microdrive died! With my normal, capacious card gone, I needed to make do with the Ridata and download frequently. That seemed ok until I accidently deleted an entire afternoon's worth of wedding photos! Aargggh!

I found that Sandisk had RescuePro, a program that could recover deleted photos. After downloading the software and seeing I could recover my photos, my choice was to spend $40 to purchase the software, or another $50 and get a 1GB Extreme card (software included for free).

Well, I recovered the photos, and now love the Sandisk. It is faster (at 80x vs. the Ridata's 52x), and I can take and access photos faster. In addition, the extreme label says its operating temperature is -13 to 185° F, a much broader range than the Ridata was listed for (32-140° F). I tried it in a recent cold snap with the wind chill below zero, card and camera outdoors seemed to work just fine. The great thing about a CF card is that, unlike a microdrive, it is not susceptible to shocks and jolts. The very fast write/transfer times (the new Extreme III just out sets even higher standards), professional quality operating range, large capacity for those hi-res photos, and file rescue software that works (included free) makes this a winner.

Sandisk is a great brand and has always been a quality product.
This was a few extra dollars for the extra speed and I think it was well worth it.

Same as my Ultra II.......2007-09-09

I bought this card for MY Nikon D200. It's a nice card but no faster than my Ultra II. The camera buffer on the d200 is so large that the write speed on this card is really useless. It does download a little faster than the Ultra II, but not by much. If you are buying this for the faster write speed, you will not benefit if you are using a good SLR with a large buffer.

excellent performance from SanDisk once again.......2007-05-07

Once again SanDisk has exceeded expectations. I've used other manufacturers CF and SD cards, but they just don't compare. I use my Extreme III CF card in my Rebel XT and continuous shooting mode is essentially unlimited! Awesome! Also, speedy transfer rate to my PC.

One of the other reasons I buy SanDisk .. I don't worry that the card will fail and loose data .. and I know it will hold up if I drop it on the floor .. things I can't count on with other cards. That's why I only buy SanDisk at this point.

Faster to write than read but faster than any card I've used so far.
