Amazon.com Product Description
The Terk XMDSON110 XMDirect Smart Digital Adapter allows you to connect the XMD1000 Terk XM Direct Universal XM Satellite Radio Tuner to your Sony in-dash receiver. Both this adapter and the universal tuner are extremely compact and will install easily behind your dash or in any other convenient location.
Please note that when using the XMDSON110 adapter, the sound settings -- such as bass, treble, balance, fader, and sub level -- on some Sony receivers may revert to factory settings when you switch from XM to another source and back. Channel presets and equalizer presets, however, will continue to operate properly.

If there's another way...look for it.......2007-07-13
I installed it November 2004 and it's July 2007 and broken. I lost audio to my right side speakers and I traced the problem to this adapter. 3 weeks prior my other Turk adapter which connects from the amp to the radio also broke. It turns out it was a cold solder but I repaired it and it's now fine. As far as this one is concerned; I HATE it! It's wonderful that these adapters make it simple but it's nothing but headaches afterwards. If I find another way to install the XM I will try it. Sorry to say it but it SUCKS!
Installed it myself, works like a charm.......2007-03-02
I installed the Terk Satellite Radio Sony XM Direct Smart Digital Adapter along with the XM Direct tuner and both work like a charm. I have a Satellite radio ready Sony head unit with a front auxiliary port - so I was able to install XM and keep my front aux port free.
The digital adapter manual does state that most newer Sony stereo models will operate in "mode 3"; which the manual states will not save user-defined equalizer settings, so keep that in mind. I personally haven't felt the need for custom equalizer settings, I just switch between the stereo's presets.
Also, my particular head unit doesn't automatically scroll thru the XM display data (station name, artist, song title, etc.), but there is a button that you can press to scroll thru the various display lines. You might want to do a little research to see if there is a stereo head unit with a better XM display - Terk makes adapters for several different stereo manufacturers. The limited display would be my only gripe about this system, otherwise would have given 5 stars.
XM activation was a breeze - I did it on XM's website and it literally took about 20 minutes for my in-car tuner to receive the signal. I was able to do it during my lunch break.
All in all a great buy, especially at this price. My adpater and XM tuner came from two different re-sellers, but both arrived very quickly.
Sony sucks - the wort in-dash integration ever.......2007-02-12
While I can't speak for other people who may be buying a Terk XM Direct kit for their brand of stereo, I can speak for those considering buying this device for their Sony. Simply put, it SUCKS! First of all, when having it professionally installed, I was told that I would loose my auxillary input, which is the main reason I originally bought my Sony stereo, so I could plug my ipod and Sirius satellite into it. Now, I was told, I would need to go to Radio shack and get one of those tacky A/B switches and mount it under my dash if I wanted to use the auxillary input. This was unacceptable to me, so I just gave up my aux input and let them install the Terk Sony XM Direct kit.
Once the install was complete, the next wave of pain began! The activation process that XM uses completely sucks! They instructed me that I need to leave my car on for a minimum of 30 minutes, and up to 4 hours to receive the activation signal. Of course, this is a problem for someone who drives 10-15 minutes each way to work, and most of my trips are fairly short, so I found myself sitting in my car in a parking lot waiting for the stupid thing to activate, and it never did. 3 or 4 days later, and several phone calls, I finally decided to just leave the keys in my ignition, in the accessory position, and leave my radio on and hope and PRAY that my car does not get stolen. Thank god it didn't, but my XM Radio finally activated. Now this probably doesn't speak for this perticular product, but I just wanted to warn anyone who is getting XM for the first time, make sure you're planning a road trip, or you don't mind sitting in your car!
Continuing my list of disapointments came when I realized that EVERY SINGLE TIME I turn my car off, or switch from XM to CD, the stupid Sony unit looses my DSP and EQ selections, I have to press the DSP button and the EQ buttons each time I turn the car on or switch to XM! Who the heck invented this anyway?
Lastly, the stupid thing only displays the artist on the display of my radio, and sometimes that doesn't even work. That being said, this is the WORST in dash integration for XM I have ever seen. And to make matters worse, in January of this year XM made a terrible decision to further compress and process the audio, so the audio quality of the XM is MUCH worse then listening to streaming radio on the internet, or even Sirius for that matter. In fact, if you take out all the static, FM SOUNDS BETTER THEN XM. I'm about ready to rip this thing out of my car and just go back to my exteranal Sirius and IPOD units! Oh and one final thing, this thing takes up BOTH the line input and the CD changer, so don't even think about having a CD changer if you're going to use this thing!

I couldnt ask for anything more........2007-12-02
I have used this card for several months, and have taken tens of thousands of images with it. I have not had a single problem on my 30D, that is not something I could say about Lexar cards. All of my Sandisk cards have served me very well, and I hope and expect them to continue to do so.
I get about 9MB/s using my PCMCIA reader on my laptop, which is decent. I would invest in the firewire reader to get the true potential transfer rate, but my laptop doesn't support firewire.
8 GB CF San Disk Card.......2007-10-26
Great Card with quick recovery and mega memory. Will recover quickly from first picture to last. My use is under water with a canon SLR and Ikelite Housing.
Dependable and Fast.......2007-10-23
We have a professional art & photography studio and we have been using SanDisk Extreme cards for years. They have never given us a problem, and we have even sent a couple through the washing machine or some similar situation. It is still fast at this point, but we will keep upgrading as with the same brand as we need to. I have tried a couple of less known brands (Lexar is good too), but we ran into enough trouble with less known brands that we didn't want to risk that anymore. If you are a pro (or take important photos), you need to be confident that you will come back with photos and no problems on your disc. You probably shouldn't buy the unknown brand unless you know your stuff very well, and know exactly who produced it and how they did it.
Excellent Card for dSLRs.......2007-10-15
I primarily shoot with a Nikon D200. This card is ideal for those shooting with a dSLR camera. It's fast write speed make shooting in continuous mode a pleasant experience.
SANDISK cf 8gb CARD.......2007-09-30
Card often looses or does not record a particular photograph. The camera displays an error message, but when shooting a wedding this can result in a lost, very important image.I never had this problem with Micro-Drives that I've been using for years.Given the price of this thing,I'd appreciate an explanation.Or even a trade-up to a better, more reliable compact flash card.I'm truely curious if you guys will respond to this. We'll see.
Thank you, Neilandjoann@charter.net

Not bad..............2007-10-08
Unless you're using a serious high-end camera, save your money, because you don't need this card; however, if you're recording high bandwidth video or audio, it is worth the money. I record 24/192 4 tracks at a time, and this card keeps up pretty well.
A truly great product.......2007-09-23
I shoot kids sports and other school activities and I shoot lots of images very quickly. My D200 never slows down for a second. I also have a SanDisk Extreme III 16gb card. I can't tell much difference in write speed between it and the Extreme IV - but when speed is a factor, the IV is the one I choose.
Sandisk 8 Gb CF Card.......2007-09-13
I have been waiting to buy this card as I am upgrading to a larger resolution camera. I now have the capacity to not have to stop and along with the firewire reader I can download much faster.
Great Card for Underwater Pictures.......2007-09-08
We used the SanDisk 8 GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card for all of the hundreds of underwater pictures that we took in Bonaire in August. The card was fast! I was able to take continuous action shots with my Sony F828 that I would have missed with my Memory Stick Pro.
Also, with 8 GB, we were able to fit two weeks of pictures on one card! We never had to worry about having enough room to fit that last great shot. We highly recommend this product.
The best will cost ya........2007-09-03
Hands down the most durable CF card out there, but certainly more $ than other brands and models. If you are an (extreme) shooter, this card will likely survive impacts that your camera won't, but if you're a more sullen photographer, save your $ and get an Ultra series card instead.
